SUPERIOR, Wis.- The Superior Chamber of Commerce is promoting a “Lots of Love. Lots of Living.” campaign to spread awareness of the many jobs available in the area.

Superior-Douglas County Area Chamber of Commerce is kicking off the job push campaign after two months of planning. This includes launching a new website, allowing people to search and apply for jobs in the area.

“We’re not targeting a particular industry, we’re not targeting a particular job,” said CEO and President Taylor Pedersen. “I think a lot of our employees are doing a nice job of doing that. We’re targeting all jobs–there’s so many jobs, so many positions that are open.”

A local survey revealed 86 percent of businesses in Wisconsin have had a hard time filling job positions. The survey also found COVID-19 health risks and increased unemployment benefits are major reasons for employee shortages.

“I do think that most employers are hiring,” said Pedersen. “There’s a number of industries that are seeing their practices filled but most are really hiring at the moment. So all the more reason to create a broad campaign.”

The campaign helps pair people with jobs in different industries and will run through September. The major goal is to reduce both the number of open job positions and unemployed residents.

Although the campaign will only be running for a few months they hope for many years in the future.
